Las Vegas Elvis-A-Rama Museum

According to the Elvis-a-Rama website, Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc has acquired the assets and trademark
to the Elvis-a-Rama and closed the museum on October 1, 2006 to make way for a world class Elvis attraction
on the Las Vegas strip. CKX, Inc. granted Mr. Davidson the right to open a museum in Hawaii.

Not far from the Las Vegas Strip there's a Museum dedicated to multi-year Vegas performer and recognized "King" of rock and roll—the Elvis-A-Rama Museum.

What would a trip to Las Vegas be without a sojourn to a museum that honors a person whose name is synonymous with hip-swiveling, jumpsuit-wearing, high-energy entertainment?

Uh-huh.

Ladies and gentlemen, we do mean the “King” of rock and roll—Elvis Presley. And the place to do this is at the Elvis-A-Rama Museum!

Although Elvis Aaron Presley was a country boy born in Tupelo, Mississippi, and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, he was definitely a part of the Las Vegas flash and panache during the 60's and 70's.

Elvis' blue suede shoes at Elvis-A-Rama Museum pictureIf you were to turn back the clock to an earlier time, though, you'd find that Elvis' very first appearance in Las Vegas was in 1956 at the New Frontier Hotel. Unfortunately, the Blue Suede Shoe man didn't exactly receive rave reviews from the critics. That didn't keep him away from Vegas, though.

Eleven years later, on May 1, 1967, he and Priscilla Anne Beaulieu were married at the Aladdin Hotel. Elvis returned to Las Vegas again in 1969 where he finally hit the big jackpot with his successful seven-year run at the International Hotel, which was re-named the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel in the early 70's. Elvis Presley performed there a total of 637 times, breaking a number of records for sold-out shows. His last concert was on December 12, 1976.

Elvis-A-Rama Museum pictureAll of that, plus so much more, is chronicled at the Elvis-A-Rama Museum, located just west of Las Vegas Boulevard on Industrial Road, in a building that looks as if it might have been part of a strip mall at one time. That aside, if you are in need of a sizeable “Elvis fix,” then this is a great place to get one. Over five million dollars worth of memorabilia and personal effects are at the Elvis-A-Rama Museum-the largest collection of its kind outside of Graceland.

Elvis' cars at the museum picture The interactive displays feature three of Elvis' cars, including his 1955 black Cadillac concert tour limo, his jewelry, the famous peacock jumpsuit, his karate gi, his Army uniform, his piano, plus pictures and other objects from his movie, “Viva Las Vegas,' and other films he was in. This list barely scratches the surface because there are hundreds of other items that line the walls and fill display cases.

On a final note, check out the Elvis impersonator shows at the museum-“The King in Concert: An Exhilarating Show,” and “All Shook Up: The Ultimate Tribute.” There is a fee to attend these performances.

Entrance to the Elvis Museum is one of the many attractions included in the Las Vegas Power Pass.
