Buffalo Burgers – Hamburger Restaurant Review

Buffalo Burgers
5317 Geary Blvd (17th 18th Aves), 668-1267
Open 7 days, Mon-Thurs 11am-9pm, Fri &Sat 11am-10pm, Sun 11am-8pm.

This is a hole-in-the-wall place with about 15 seats (4 at a counter) that serves hearty good-sized burgers, buffalo wings, fish and chips, sandwiches, and salads — a wonderful high-school student menu. The burgers are 1/3 lb, a little short of the 1/2 lb that I prefer, but the buns are large and the toppings generous, making quite a mouthful.

The younger-generation service is counter-style (no tip) and attentive. In keeping with its name, one can have a genuine buffalo-meat burger for an additional 85 cents. Also, one can have a double cheeseburger (i.e., 2/3 lb!) for an additional $2.50 to the 1/3-pounder, or $5.95 – a great buy. It is not on the menu — ask for it. Fries are extra at $1.35 and $2.35. The menu is mind-boggling, but it is all prepared on order, and fresh. There is even a veggie burger for vegetarians and fish and chips for non-carnivores.

Note: Of course, nothing beats my all-time favorite for burgers, Slider’s Diner (corner Polk & Sutter Sts, or Castro Street, next to the theater), but Buffalo Burgers is a good alternative. Also, fish and chips and buffalo wings are good bonuses.
