Joe's Fish Grotto is a simple, neighborhood restaurant, which opened in 1946. It resembles a Cape Cod fish house where diners are seated together at wooden tables, democratic-style. They serve both Boston and Manhattan clam chowder, and fish steaks are chosen by the diners from the showcase. The choices are many, and the dinner portions very large.

Lunch — Basically, prices are the same for lunch as for the dinner prices described below, except that at lunch most diners opt for soups, sandwiches, omelettes, salads, & fish & chips. Fish dishes – with pasta or fresh vegetables, & tartar sauce – are served in half-portions a la carte for $8.95; still ample in size for lunch. Fettucine with seafood dishes are also served in half-portions, for $6.95-$7.95.

Dinner starters include clam chowder, cup $2.75, bowl $4.75, shrimp cocktail $5.95, prawn cocktail $6.25, steamed mussels $5.75, steamed clams $6.95, shrimp dinner salad $5.95.

Seafood entrees at Joe's Fish Grotto are served with choice of soup or shrimp salad, pasta or vegetables, tartar sauce, and lemon – grilled or broiled – e.g., calamari steak $11.95, sandabs $12.50, salmon or halibut $14.50.

Shellfish specials include steamed mussels $9.95, half-cracked crab $8.85, whole crab $14.95, steamed clams $12.50, cioppino $14.95.

Other dinner choices include omelettes with shrimp, prawns, or crab $10.95-$14.50, sandwiches with shrimp, crab, prawns, scallops, or oysters $6.95-$9.50, fish & chips $7.95, fettucine with shrimp, crab, prawns, or shellfish $10.25-$14.50.

Dessert — Spumoni $3.00.
