Original Joe's 144 Taylor St (Market), 775-4877. 10:20am-1am, 7 days.
This is a huge place which is now in its 64th year in San Francisco. It is a businessmans favorite for its hamburgers, steaks, pasta dishes, even breakfasts. Ill cover them in a future review of S.F. steak restaurants. (see below-scroll down) Original Joe's has an in-house butcher and uses USDA Choice beef.

3/4 pounder (12-oz) on a quarter loaf of French bread, with steak fries $6.95, 8-oz for small eaters $5.00. A 1 lb char-broiled hamburger steak yes, 16 ozs with French fries, spaghetti, or fresh vegetables $11.95. I can imagine myself going for this, say, once or twice a year, certainly not more often.

Joes has an extensive Italian menu. All portions are large. For example, pastas $7.95-10.95 e.g., with meat sauce $7.95, with clams, garlic, herbs & wine $10.95. Two favorites with French fries, spaghetti, ravioli, or vegetables pot roast $9.95, or calves liver steak $9.95. There are daily lunch specials $7.50-9.00, e.g., corned beef & cabbage (Thurs) $9.50, baked sea bass with polenta (Fri) $9.95, BBQ ribs (Fri) $7.95. And much more.
