Pete's Deli & Café has been across the street from the Mount Zion hospital since 1969. This small deli serves a large breakfast of pancakes, egg dishes, and good coffee drinks. Lunch is served until 6pm, i.e, in time for an early dinner, and includes Middle-Eastern and Mexican specialties, as well as hamburgers, cheese steaks, sandwiches and salads. It is clean, but simple in decor. Service is counter-style (no tip). Eating here is very reasonable. For example, one can enjoy an ample breakfast, with coffee and a 3-egg omelette, for under $6.00, a large lunch or early dinner with soup and a large sandwich or salad, or a Middle Eastern Plate for about $8.00. All is counter-service, i.e., you place your order at the counter and when it is ready, it is brought to your table. Food is wholesome and tasty, servings are large.


Breakfast includes pancakes, regular and buttermilk, 3 for $3.99, with strawberries or banana $4.99, French toast $4.99. Egg dishes are served with home-style potatoes and choice of toast – 2 eggs any-style $4.99, with ham, sausage or bacon $5.99, with 6-oz steak $5.99. Omelettes made with 3 eggs, served with home-style potatoes,and choice of toast – with one item (e.g., ham, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms etc.), $5.49, with two items $5.99, with three items $6.99. Bagels – plain $1.00, with cream cheese $1.75, with humus and tomato $2.25.

Lunch or early Dinner includes burgers, 3-oz, with fries $5.99, cheeseburger $6.49, double burger (2/3 lb) $8.49, garden burger $5.99, chicken burger $5.99, Pete’s Special Burger – with bacon, avocado, Swiss cheese, on sourdough roll $7.49, double cheeseburger with bacon, mushrooms, & Jack cheese $9.49, Mexican burger with cheese, jalapeno, & salsa $6.99.
