Steak Restaurants Update

Where’s the Beef – Steakhouses in San Francisco

As we know, steak restaurant prices have gone through the roof, so my review of February 2002 is far outdated.

Still, many of us like an occasional steak meal, even if it is a little out of our normal range, but okay for once in awhile, as a "big splurge." Is this still possible?

I've phoned the restaurants of my 2002 review and have their present prices -- valid as of May 15th. I've also added several restaurants that still have relatively affordable prices, between $10 and $15, and between $15 and $20. Even those above $20 are much lower in price than the major steak restaurants like Ruth Chris or Harris. One restaurant of my old review has closed (JAX on O"Farrell), but the others are still going strong. If you can afford a Big Splurge steak dinner, you'll find it here at a much lower price than at the big steak houses.

Our favorite pre-fixe elegant restaurant. French-fusion. Serves a 3-course dinner for $20.00 with a choice of any appetizer (which includes mussels, tiger prawns, or oysters etc), any main course (which includes NY steak, salmon, lamb, etc.), and any dessert (choice of 10). A best deal for an excellent steak dinner.
