Sandy Sims & Tom Wilmer
Livermore Valley Winery and Tasting Room
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
-------------------------------------------------
The tasting room—feeling more like a friendly country store—is through a door at the side of Earl and Linda Ault’s ranch-style home, vineyard and patio, where they carry on a range of entertaining events, including a blue grass concert, Cinco de Merlot, Olive Oil Bottling, Port and Cigar Tasting.
This bubbly, enthusiastic couple have the Midas touch whatever they do. Earl—the winemaker—is an accomplished sculptor, watercolorist, and large format photographer. Linda was featured in Diablo Magazine as one of the five Best Amateur Chefs in the East Bay Area of San Francisco.
The Aults were living in Eastern Washington—he a physicist, she in physics and computer science—when they became interested in the wine industry.
After transferring to Livermore, they bought land and became growers, eventually dipping into winemaking. They took courses at U.C. Davis and produced their first wines in 1990.
Their Cabernet earned three gold medals in national competitions. Earl’s foray into port wines got him named one of the top five Port producers in the country by Wine Enthusiast magazine. And Cedar Mountain is the only certified green winery in the East and South Bay since 2001. Their excellent facilities out back allow them to bottle and process wines for small, local wineries.
