Livermore Valley Winery and Tasting Room
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
-------------------------------------------------
Off the beaten winery track, out on East Avenue, behind a small house, this simple tasting room has ample parking. There, Larry and Margie Dino will be pouring wines and conversation. This is a friendly, fun couple, and their wines have gained quite a following.
For some twenty years, Larry, a software engineer, and Margie, a registered nurse, trekked from Fremont to Napa and Sonoma for their wine country experience. In 1999, they began making wine in their garage.
When they moved to Livermore in 2003, their custom home included a barrel room. Planting a small vineyard with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, they attended classes at Davis and Las Positas Community College and refined their winemaking skills.
In 2007 Cuda Ridge Winery was bonded—specializing in Bordeaux-style wines.
Larry produces old-world-style wines, using Livermore grapes picked from an early harvest because they have lower sugar levels.
“Our wines are fruity but it’s subtle, in the manner of an Italian or French wine.” Cuda Ridge wines, generally blends of classic Bordeaux varietals, are crushed, pressed, and barrel aged at the winery in small lots.
Fascinating Fact:
Cuda Ridge is named after Larry’s restored 1970 Barracuda, which he displays when the weather is good.
