Livermore Valley Winery and Tasting Room

Though Tamás Estate wines are now owned and crafted by the Wente family, the Spanish flavored, Tuscan-themed tasting room sits in a separate building across from the Wente tasting room.

This separation distinguishes Tamás as a wine crafted in the style of its original winemakers—Iván Tamás Fuezy and Steve Mirassou.

The two men came to Livermore to refine their winemaking skills under Wente tutelage as well as use Wente’s infrastructure for administration and production. Carolyn Wente recalls that Fuezy and Mirassou were crafting beautiful, fresh, fruit-forward wines, exceptional everyday table wines.

Tamás grapes are grown in Wente’s estate vineyards in Livermore Valley, San Francisco Bay, and Arroyo Seco, Monterey appellations. When Mirassou and Fuezy retired, they sold the winery to the Wentes, who have operated it ever since, keeping to the winemaking methods of the original owners.

Fascinating Fact:

Steve Mirassou’s son, Steven Kent Mirassou, is the owner of La Rochelle and Steven Kent wineries, also located on Tesla Road.
