There are many great, casual restaurants in the small historic town of Healdsburg.

To see what suits your palate and pocketbook look at the individual sites for the restaurants below to make an informed choice. Make reservations just in case they're busy.

If you are following our Westside Road Wine Trail and are hungry, but don't want to go into town to eat, take a left on Westside Road when you leave Alderbrook. About half a mile up the road it makes a big turn to the left and Madrona Manor, 1001 Westside Road, is in front of you. Visit their web site to see what a magnificent place this is.

The Press Democrat, in a 2003 Zagat Survey, calls Madrona Manor "Sonoma County's highest overall rated restaurant." Chef Jesse Mallgren masterfully prepares New California cuisine and has an extensive a la carte menu.

Don't miss their beautiful gardens. This is a place to indulge all your senses and maybe just the place you'll want to stay after a glorious day on the Westside Road Wine Trail. Reservations are required so call ahead at 800 258-4033.

In Town — Restaurants in Healdsburg

First on our list is Zin Restaurant and Wine Bar where Jeff Mall is Chef and Proprietor. Zin is located at 344 Center Street, Healdsburg.

When you get under the freeway and enter town, the first stoplight is Healdsburg Avenue. Turn left and then turn right at Matheson Street just before Healdsburg Plaza. Drive the length of the Plaza to the first light and turn left onto Center Street. You'll soon see Zin on your right.

Bear Republic Brewing Co. offers a nice change after a day at the wineries. See their menu on-line.

Bear Republic Brewing Co. is a brewery and restaurant for people with a hearty appetite. They're located at 345 Healdsburg Avenue in the Clock Tower building on your left. From Westside Road go left to the second stop light on Healdsburg Avenue. Parking is available on your left. Look for the two grain silos and you're there. Check to see if you need reservations at 707 433-2337.

Catelli's The Rex has been around for 60 years. Owners Susan Hampton and Chef Randy Hoppe have created a relaxed intimate atmosphere and a serious menu. Catelli's The Rex is located at 241 Healdsburg Avenue, just before the light at Matheson Street on the left. This is a great place to consider. Call for reservations at 707 433-6000.

Dry Creek Kitchen is the new restaurant in town, created by nationally acclaimed Chef Charlie Palmer. Mark Purdy is their executive Chef, rated one of the five rising stars for 2002 by the San Francisco Chronicle.

Dry Creek Kitchen is an elegant place located in the luxurious Hotel Healdsburg overlooking historic Healdsburg Plaza. It's located on your left, in just a bit from the left corner of Matheson Street on Healdsburg Avenue. This intersection is at the first light on Healdsburg Avenue after your left turn off of Westside Road. Reservations are recommended at 707 431-0330.

Lotus Thai Restaurant is on the corner of Healdsburg Avenue and Plaza Street, #109A. They claim to have the best Thai cuisine in Sonoma County. Maybe that's because the owner is from Thailand. See Lotus Thai Restaurant's extensive menu on-line. Call for reservations at 707 433-5282.

We'd be tarred and feathered if we didn't direct you to Oakville Grocery on the southeast corner of the Healdsburg Plaza. They have many gourmet items for sale, wine tasting and a place to sit down and enjoy their great sandwiches them outside.

Restaurant Charcuterie is on the left side of Healdsburg Avenue after your turn off of Westside Road, #335, a bit after the first stoplight on the left side of the road. With Steak, Pork Tenderloin, Trout, Chicken and Pasta on the menu, you know this is down home cooking

Don't miss Restaurant Charcuterie's pig museum! Charcuterie is a French word for a pork butchery's shop. Call them at 707 431-7213.

Tastings Restaurant & Wine Tasting Bar is well known for its rotating menu. They're hard pressed to keep their web master up to date, but the seafood tasting menu is not to be missed. The attention Chef Derek McCarthy and Sommelier Finn Finnegan bring to the table is hard to beat.

Western Boot Steakhouse is the place to go for beef and ribs. This is the real deal, with homemade salsa, beans and bread to fill you up. Ken and Cheryl have run this "saloon" since 1983.
