Winery Tasting Room at Oxbow in Napa CA
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
-------------------------------------------------
Winemaker Gustavo Brambila and former lawyer Thrace Bromberger teamed up in 1996 to produce their own small-lot wines.
Thrace, who had previously started two companies and had a degree in small business management, has managed the tasting room and handled national sales/marketing ever since (she refers to herself as “The Forklift Queen”).
Gustavo—who worked both at Chateau Montelena and Grgich Hills with Vintner Hall of Fame member Mike Grgich—makes the wine.
The spacious, art-filled, and unusually hospitable tasting shop is across the street from Napa’s Oxbow Public Market.
This is one of the few winery tasting rooms in Napa where you’ll probably have an owner pouring your wine (and it’s not unusual for both Gustavo and Thrace to be behind the bar at the same time).
Gustavo is often asked to sign bottles of his wine, so don’t be shy to make the request.
Fascinating Fact:
A fictionalized portrait of Gustavo Brambila appeared in the 2008 movie Bottle Shock, which was about the famed 1976 “Judgment of Paris” wine tasting. Gustavo was played by Freddie Rodriguez, best known for his role on HBO’s award-winning TV program Six Feet Under.
