Winery Tasting Room at Oxbow Market in Napa CA

Family-owned and -operated Mason Cellars was founded in 1993 by Randy and Megan Mason with the aim of crafting fine wines at affordable prices. Given the acclaim that Mason wines have attained through the years—particularly their selection of Sauvignon Blancs—they’ve succeeded handsomely.

The endeavor was certainly helped along by Randy’s background: after graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Fermentation Science, he worked for several years as a Napa vineyard manager and winemaker.

Megan’s marketing career made her a natural to handle the winery’s public relations.

In 2006 the Masons opened a tasting room at the Oxbow Market in downtown Napa. If you can imagine a country kitchen that looks the way Sauvignon Blanc tastes, you’ll get an idea of what you’ll be walking into.

The tasting room is bright, open, and sunny, with a hint of French countryside thrown in. And it’s artsy too, with work by local artists always on display and imaginative coloration on the walls and even the floor. Despite all the elegance, the feel is down-home and very friendly.

On sale are carefully selected wine, gourmet, and other items for the gracious home.

Randy Mason designed Lakespring Winery and then served as General Manager and Winemaker for 16 years.
