Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
-------------------------------------------------
Starting in the early 1980s, Bob and Jan MacDonnell began purchasing property in or near Napa Valley’s Rutherford, eventually acquiring 360 plantable acres. For the next two decades the family sold fruit to nearby premium wineries such as Robert Mondavi, Beaulieu, and Sterling.
They eventually began making small lots “for fun.” Enjoying the result, in 2002 Round Pond Estate released its first 950 cases of wine to the market—and acclaim.
Today the winery is run by brother and sister Miles and Ryan MacDonnell.
The stunning tasting room facility, surrounded by large palms, succulent gardens, and olive trees has a distinct Italian flair. Tasting takes place on the second floor, either at the long bar, comfortable tables or ourdoors on the expansive, partially covered patio.
You can choose from a variety of tours, including the basic Estate Tasting and the Twilight Tasting & Dinner. Be sure to explore the Sensory Garden, with its fruits, vegetables and herbs offering flavors and aromas similar to those found in Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc.
You can also take a separate tour of the estate’s nearby olive oil production facility.

Fascinating Fact:
As a boy, founder Bob MacDonnell camped and fished every summer beside the peaceful waters of Round Pond in upstate New York. His idyllic memories of those summers resulted in the winery’s name.
