Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
-------------------------------------------------
St. Supéry is owned by the Skalli family of France, which entered the wine business in the 1920s.
Owner, Robert Skalli joined the family business in 1974 at age 24, working primarily in the sunny wine region of Languedoc.
On a California visit, he noted the similarities of climate and terroir between Napa Valley and the Languedoc—and resolved to create a great Napa wine. In 1982 he bought property in Rutherford, and later opened St. Supéry Vineyards & Winery.
St. Supéry is a “super” place to visit, offering many diversions. You can choose between a basic tasting at the spacious ground floor bar, or the Reserve tasting in a luxuriously-decorated room on the second floor.
You can take a self-guided tour (be sure to ask for a map); learn about aroma and other aspects of wine in the free education center; walk through the vineyards in front of the property; enjoy the gardens in season; and tour the barrel room. In addition, every few months a new art exhibit goes on display.
Fascinating Fact:
Don’t miss the sample vineyard, where different grape varietals grow and are clearly marked. In late summer and early fall you can taste and compare the grapes here.
