A Napa Valley Winery on the Silverado Trail
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
-------------------------------------------------
Founded in 1969 by two Silicon Valley engineers, Cuvaison was purchased 10 years later—and is still owned by—Switzerland’s Schmidheiny family (who also own vineyards in Australia, Argentina, and Europe). Truly an international wine, Cuvaison is found in nearly 50 overseas markets and frequently poured on the world’s cruise ships and airlines.
Wine-tasting at Cuvaison is a pleasant and relaxed experience. The attractive, Mission-style winery belies the sleek modernity within, where you’ll find an artistically minimalistic tasting room graced with handsome touches of wood.
Floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the vineyard and a patio, where you’ll want to settle in on warm days. The woodsy property—with lots of oak and olive trees—is set atop a hill and offers lovely views.
Cuvaison Estate Wines has a second tasting room at the southern end of the Napa Valley in the Carneros AVA.
Fascinating Fact:
The French word “cuvaison” represents the time during fermentation and maceration when grape juice remains in contact with skins and seeds, allowing the transfer of color, aroma, and tannins.
