Napa Valley winery on the Silverado Trail
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
-------------------------------------------------
From its earliest days, Pine Ridge has adhered to the most demanding principles of winemaking, from night harvesting and hand berry sorting to high-temperature extended maceration. There is also a strong emphasis here on old-style French winemaking methods.
In the vineyards, Pine Ridge uses the French method of planting roses to act as an early warning system for mildew and other harmful agents.
Wines are barrel-aged in French Oak in caves located more than 100 feet below the vines (one of the caves contains a work by noted glass artist Dale Chihuly).
The winery, backdropped by pine-covered hills and surrounded by vineyards, is in a lovely location. You’ll find an informative demonstration vineyard where you can learn about the different trellising systems used by wine growers.
The 1.5 hour tour provides an in-depth overview of how wine is made, giving you a look at vineyards, winemaking facilities, and the cave system. You’ll end your tour in the tasting room.
Fascinating Fact:
Pine Ridge uses the Joseph’s Coat Rose in its vineyard. Named for the biblical Joseph, whose coat was of many colors, this rose changes color as it cycles through its spring-into-fall blooming season.
