Yountville, California Wine Tasting
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
-------------------------------------------------
Former high school football coach Ed Snider grew up in Napa Valley as the child of vintners whose winemaking roots harked back to 16th-century Italy. So it’s not surprising that, at some point, he would be making his own wine.
He and his wife, Trish, began thinking about buying a vineyard in the 1990s, and they eventually purchased a site in the Atlas Peak appellation overlooking Stags Leap; it’s now planted mostly to Cabernet Sauvignon, with a smaller percentage given to Cabernet Franc and Petite Verdot. The Sniders produced their first Beau Vigne vintage in 2002, and have received stellar reviews over the years from major industry critics such as Robert Parker. Apparently the name Beau Vigne—which means “fine wine” in French—was well chosen.
The tasting room in Yountville’s Washington Square—on the north end of "wine tasting row"—offers tasting at the bar and while seated at tables. The room’s modern, minimalistic design highlights beautiful touches such as the creative, free-form chandelier and the high-style tables and chairs.
Discounts are given on some wines purchased in the tasting room.
Fascinating Fact:
Many of the St. Helena High School football players coached by Ed Snider back in the 1990s have since entered the local wine industry and become his peers.
