Ivy-covered winery on St. Helena Highway in Yountville
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
-------------------------------------------------
Self-taught winemaker Mitch Cosentino first tried his hand at making wines in Modesto, California, in the corner of a warehouse. He released his first vintage in 1981, and the result was so good that he continued on, eventually moving his operations to Yountville in 1989.
Somewhere along the line he adopted a motto, “Never enough Wines.” This reflects his passion for creating many varietals and labels (including M Coz, Cigarzin, Legends, CE2V, and Blockheadia). Over the years Cosentino has developed a reputation for innovative production methods and for Meritage blends such as the winery’s flagship wine, “The Poet.”
The large, ivy-covered winery with its heavy wooden doors is framed by tall cypress trees and has a Mediterranean feel. In the attractive tasting room, with its tile floor, your eyes will be drawn to the unique copper-topped tasting bar with its sliding spittoons. Winery logo clothing, gourmet foods, and wine accessories are displayed for sale throughout the room.
In January of 2011, Cosentino Winery was acquired by Vintage Wine Estates, a Santa Rosa-based wine company. Other holdings include; Girard Winery, Sonoma Coast Vineyards, Windsor Sonoma Winery, Grove Street Winery and Windsor Vineyards.
