“Country chic” wine tasting room in Yountville, California
Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Tasting Tours
-------------------------------------------------
For twenty years after its 1975 founding by the Girard Family, this winery developed an excellent reputation, particularly for Cabernet Sauvignon.
In 1995 the Girard estate and brand name were purchased by notable food and wine entrepreneur Leslie Rudd (owner of Dean & DeLuca gourmet stores).
He continued making wines under the Girard name until 2000, when he changed the winery’s name to Rudd Estate and sold the Girard brand to long-time wine industry executive Pat Roney (whose properties include Windsor Vineyards, Sonoma Coast Vineyards, and Grove Street Winery). Under Roney’s direction, the wines have continued to receive high ratings of 90 points and more.
The “country chic” tasting room in Yountville is enhanced by the beautiful old barn wood lining the walls. The bright and open room offers both a bar and tables for tasting. Wine and Food Pairings are available, offering small plates from Dean & DeLuca chosen specifically to complement the wines. The atmosphere is low-key and quiet, and the helpful wine staff enjoys explaining the wines.
Fascinating Fact:
Girard Winery is famed for its Artistry blend of Bordeaux varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Merlot. The varietals and percentages change each year.
