After 20 years as an investment manager, Michael Polenske turned his attention to other endeavors, including winemaking, art, and design. All three came together in Ma(i)sonry.

This eclectic, high-style and high-end winery collective allows visitors to taste more than 40 exceptional wines from 13 boutique vintners (many of these small-production wines are unavailable elsewhere for tasting). They include Polenske’s own Blackbird Vineyards and his second label, Ma(i)sonry. The others: Brown Estate, Husic Vineyards, Juslyn Vineyards, Lail Vineyards, Pedras Wine Company, Renteria Wines, Rivera Vineyards, Skipstone, Tor Kenward Family Wines, and Uvaggio.

Ma(i)sonry is housed in a beautiful 1904 cut-fieldstone building, a former residence now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building and grounds double as an art gallery and sculpture garden. The place is filled with eclectic works and exquisitely-designed furniture—all of it for sale.

It’s a sensational place to taste wine. You’ll be able to choose from more than a dozen flights, including a dessert wine flight and a “Bordeaux Inspired” flight, but you can also choose from the entire portfolio and create a flight of your choosing.

Fascinating Fact:

Polenske was a founding investor of New York City’s SoHo House, whose rooftop pool was prominently featured in the hit TV show, Sex and the City.
