San Diego Convention Center

The San Diego Convention Center on the Embarcadero in downtown San Diego provides excellent facilities for trade shows, conventions and corporate or private meetings of all sizes.

The San Diego Civic Theater is here also.

Landscaped terraces overlooking the bay are available for breaks and outdoor events.

Formal assemblies and meetings can also be held in the 2,975 seat Civic Theatre which is the largest, best equipped performing arts theater in San Diego.

The San Diego Convention Center, with its great city and water views, is also convient to shopping and entertainment.

The Center is within easy walking distance of the Gaslamp Quarter, Horton Plaza, Petco Park and Seaport Village.

Many hotels are conveniently close to the San Diego Convention Center ranging from the Manchester Grand Hyatt with 1625 guest rooms or the Omni San Diego, a 32-story luxury hotel, to many smaller and European-style properties.

The convention center underwent an expansion in 2001 that doubled the total amount of space. In addition to 500,000 sq. ft. of contiguous exhibit space, 90,000 sq. ft of multi-function space and 200,000+ sq. ft of meeting space (72 meeting rooms) there are two 40,000 sq. ft ballrooms at the convention center. The 90,000 sq. ft. Sails Pavilion, is now glass-enclosed.

Events like the International Auto Show, the Boat Show and Comic Com draw area residents as well as out-of-towners to the convention center.

San Diego Civic Theatre

The San Diego Civic Theatre, located at 202 C. Street, is home to the San Diego Opera, California Ballet, La Jolla Chamber Music Society and the Nederlander Presentation, San Diego Playgoers Broadway Series Theatrical and musical productions.

Luciano Pavarotti, Harry Connick Jr., Pearl Jam, Whoopi Goldberg and David Copperfield have performed at the San Diego Civic Theatre as well as The Bolshoi Ballet, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Boston Symphony. The Broadway musicals Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables have also been enjoyed here.
